Spark PlugsOne of the most annoying things about car ownership is that inevitable day when something goes wrong. For months, you may pad along happily, relying on your car constantly and consistently. But just when you think everything is going well ? something always happens. Often, cars give us trouble on the front end of the process: they put up a stink when it?s time to start. On paper, the starting mechanism of an internal combustion engine is fairly simple. You turn the key in the ignition, which sends a message to the battery to hop to it. The battery sends out electricity, which then powers the spark plugs. A spark is then produced, which ignites the gasoline and oxygen in the engine cylinders. In a chain this long, however, things are sure to go amiss at one point or another. Because the process relies on information and energy being passed from one spot to another and then to another, there are numerous places where the relay can go awry. If you find yourself in need of components for your ignition system, then, shop online at PartsGeek.com for great prices and a great selection.

Spark plugs are small cylindrical devices used in automotive engines to transfer electrical power from the ignition system to the combustion chamber within each cylinder. This electricity is delivered as a spark that ignites the pressurized fuel, causing the controlled combustion reaction that powers your car (hence the name "spark plug").

365Bet登陆

The cost of a replacement spark plug will vary according to the make and model of your car and its engine design. Most of the plugs available on PartsGeek.com fall between the range of $10 and $20.

365Bet登陆

Engine misfiring, slow acceleration or lack of power and hard starting are the most common signs of a failing spark plug or spark plug wire. Other issues can include diminished fuel economy and high level of toxic hydrocarbon (HC) emissions.

365Bet登陆

Many auto manufacturers insist that their vehicles are equipped with plugs that can last as long as 100,000 miles. However, it's important to keep in mind that the longer you wait to replace spark plugs and wires, the less effective they will become. It's generally a good Idea to inspect your ignition system, including the plugs themselves, roughly every 30,000 miles.
